Virtual Extrusion Laboratory™ 2DFEM

2dfem01The VEL™, 2D FEM module is a powerful and efficent tool that can be used to analyze and optimize the following extrusion flow fields:

  • Coextrusion merge regions (upto 10 materials).
  • Planar geometries such as transitions from extruder to adaptor and adaptor to die.
  • Axi-symmetric flow fields such as a spider die.

2dfem02The VEL™, 2D FEM module can be used in the following extrusion applications:

  • pipe and tubing
  • blow molding
  • flat sheet and film
  • blown film

2dfem03The VEL™ , 2DFEM Module has been used to solve the following extrusion problems: 

  • Degradation in adaptor region.
  • Degradation in cable coating.
  • Interfacial instabilities in feedblock coextrusion.
  • Interfacial instabilies in blown film extrusion.
  • Irregular surface in cast film extrusion.
