Web Changes

This is where we'll announce the most recent additions to our web site. If you've visited us before and want to know what's changed, take a look here first.

Xaloy/Compuplast Extrusion Seminar a BIG SUCCESS

We had two short courses with Xaloy at their facilities in New Castle, PA from April 29 – May 2, 2008. The over 40 participants spent 2 days learning about polymer properties and rheology and how they related to screw design and achieving optimum melt quality. The participants observed the measurement of shear viscosity on a capillary rheometer and were shows how this information is used in screw design simulations and process optimization. The Xaloy crew were also kind enough to “fire up” their cast sheet line, complete with a melt pump so that participants could see how some of the topics presented in the short course applied to a real process. We would like to thank all of the participants for attending and wish them much success in applying their newly acquired knowledge and understanding on their job.

Below are photos of Dr. Jiri Vlcek (left) and Mr. Tim Womer (right) sharing some of their knowledge.

If you missed this event, don’t fret. We plan on having more short courses in co-operation with Xaloy in the future. Check back on our site periodically for an update on the course offerings.

Plastics Encounters at ANTEC 2008

Compuplast and CoreTech once again shared a booth at ANTEC this year to present our latest and greatest offerings in the way of simulation tools for polymer processing.  Between us we offer tools and services for Extrusion, Injection Molding, Thermoforming and Blow Molding.

We would like to thank the many visitors we had to our booth during this show. We are currently following up on the many leads that were obtained but if you feel that you need some additional information asap, please feel free to contact us. Below is a photo of our show booth staff.

Compuplast NA 2nd Annual User's Meeting

Compuplast North America hosted our Second Annual User's meeting on April 1& 2 in Williamsville NY.  The main purpose of this meeting is to Introduce the new features in the latest release of our Virtual Extrusion Laboratory (VEL™) Suite.  However, we also had some presentations showing how some of the modules are applied to "real world" problem solving.  In fact, some of these presentations, as shown in the photos below, were even made by our users themselves.

Compuplast 2008 North American Users's Meeting

While the 20 or so participants only represents a small fraction of the users that we have in North America we hope to entice more users to participate in future events.  I think the benefits of the event are described very nicely by the following comments that I received by one of the participants....

"I want to extend my congratulations to you and Jiri again. I thought this week's North America User's Meeting was one of the highest value seminars I have ever attended. There was an excellent blend of polymer processing fundamentals, practical applications, and Virtual Extrusion Laboratory tool usage discussions. One key point was explaining how to interpret the simulation output and linking it to the live process. The agenda pace was comfortable with ample time to network with other users. I really appreciate the time you and Jiri made available for one on one conversations. The casual approach promoted dialog among users.

I left the meeting with a much better understanding of how to use the power in the 2D FEM module. Nodes, elements, meshing, etc. is still intimidating when your job limits discretionary time to invest in your training. But, I have already started a project to look at flow within down stream hardware to show our development teams and my staff how new polymers will behave in the existing system."

We would like to thank all of the participants and we look forward to having a bigger and better event next year.

K 2007 Update

We would like to thank the many visitors to our booth at the US Pavilion.  We were very pleased with the turn out and we look forward to seeing everyone again soon.  If you didn't make it out to the show, you can always find information about our products and services here or by contacting us at your convenience.
